Kevin & Emily's performance classes

Postby lisatamres » Wed Nov 28, 2007 4:25 pm

Wasn't sure where to put this thread so I hope I find everyone, but this is the thread for sorting out where and when the performance class will get to strut our stuff!

We got the go- ahead from Steph and Aaron- so we will debut our routine (Hey Kevin, what is the routine called? ) this Thursday night (Nov. 29) at the West Coast Swing Dance Party.

The details:
WCS Intermediate lesson 8:45pm-9:30pm
WCS Beginner lesson 9:30-10:15pm
WCS Dance Party 10:15 to Midnight

Cost for the evening $8. Cost for just the dance $5.

We'll do our routine at 10:30, plan to meet in room 305 at 10:00 for a run-through. If anyone is planning to come to do just the routine and not stay for some of the dance pm me for arrangements. Don't forget to wear black and white.

Anyone who wants: Andrew is hosting a practice tonight (Wed. Nov. 28) at Wilkins School at 8pm.

So did you want to know who's going to be participating too?
Karl and I should be there for Thursday and Saturday if that happens as well.

Will 305 be open before 10 for individual practice?

Lisa, I'll be coming over and practice and do the performance. I do not plan to stay for the West Coast Swing dance however.

Room 305 will be available from 9:30 to 10:30 for us. Please do not go in any earlier than that even if the room is open. With luck I will be there and can set up the sound.

A role call of who is attending tonight would be helpful-- there are a couple people coming from further out who don't know if they have a partner. It would be nice to know before they make the trip in.

I am attending and don't have a partner yet (John probably can't come tonight...) .

I plan to be there if all goes well with work. My partner will not be doing the perfomance.

I did ask someone else at the end of class, but 5 minutes later he accepted someone else's invitation, then looked at me and simply said "sorry."

If any nice people are without a partner, I'll see you there tonight.

I am leaving for work and will not see any further posts here until tomorrow.

I really wish I could make it (and would be delighted to partner with BluesMeBaby or any other unpaired follower). Unfortunately, I have a band rehearsal this evening (in order to get ready for this exciting event).

It is possible rehearsal will finish in time for me to get there for the performance, but very unlikely I could make the much-needed-by-me extra practice. So I'm afraid my role in this call must be registered as "doubtful at best." :(

Saturday Night is ON.

Just heard from Bobby D. Yes, he'd love for us to do the routine and he strongly encourages us to do the routine during the first band break which would be around 10:00. The second break is around 11pm or a bit later. Actually, I heard several people mention they prefer the earlier break so that they can relax for the rest of the dance. :-)

I strongly encourage people to get to the dance early since BMJB has been known to sell out. We can take over the practice room for some of the time from 8-9?

Oh Yes,

There were some lost and found items from the last night of Kevin and Emily's class. I have a London t-shirt in my possession. I think Joe has some other stuff.

Hi folks,

We are going to have to inform those that were not there Thursday about linking hands and bowing at the end of the routine.

I also thought of something about the ending of the routine that might help synchronizing when we get up at the end to link hands and bow. What about staying down counting from 1 to 4 and then get up and take hands and bow? That should help get everybody up together rather than some people earlier than others, as happened yesterday.

We can discuss at the practice tomorrow.

Panera on Murray Ave.
Saturday at 6 ish
Before pre-dance practice
Everyone
908-625-0396

Everyone is invited to Panera (Murray Ave) on Saturday before swing city. I would especially like to encourage those doing the performance to show up, but I want to emphasize that everyone is invited. Even those blowing off swing city. Everyone. We can meet around 6ish, giving us time to order, eat, and make the pre-dance pracitce. Again, 6 ISH. Since it's Panera we can get away with the "ish" part. If you need to call: 908-625-0396.

Just reminding those of you that have the PittStop 6 Bowling shirt, it's black and white. However, will bring that for after practice. :) Just to let you know the Feb. classes will have another performance class.
